I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York and Connecticut. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based psychotherapy treatments, such as CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, EMDR, and more. Mindfulness and compassion-based interventions are also important parts of the work I do with clients. I once heard from a mindfulness teacher that the only time we ever really have free will is when we are being mindful – the rest of the time, we’re just automatically reacting to the same old stories that are wired into our heads and repeating the same old behavioral patterns.
During college, I studied philosophy and religious studies, particularly in areas related to existentialism and phenomenology. I later completed an MFA in creative writing before becoming a therapist. I suppose I’ve been interested in ‘the big questions’ all my life and have wanted to actively grapple with them which is part of why I wanted to become a therapist. We all experience suffering in life and have to find ways to cope with that, as well as make sense of it all. As a therapist, I can help people learn practical skills to improve their day-to-day functioning which, in turn, can help them get to a point of identifying what they value and what they want to prioritize with their time on this earth.
In my free time, I like connecting with nature, playing chess, reading, cooking, hanging out with my cat Sully, working out or doing yoga, spending time with my loved ones.
